I wonder.
What is it like to see the same face every single day, the flaws of the same person (perhaps newly discovered ones), the boring habits of a person, and yet, above all, to choose to love that special someone every single day of your life?
Is love considered blind when one chooses to love someone else above all their weaknesses?
Nope, it isn't. If love is ever considered blind, that person has not understood what love is in the first place.
To love is to reach the state of full acceptance of a being, to care for, empathise, apologise to, forgive, respect, and understand a person, for who he or she is, with the sole intention of being a sign of God's love to that person.
If God did not accept us for who we are, He would not have loved us and died on the cross just to save our sins.
Our very innate nature of being humans shows that we love someone else, more often than not, to expect them to love us back.
Let x be the amount we give, and y be the amount we hope to receive. They are generally related by this equation:
y=x
Then this would be the graph drawn:
God's love is infinite and it goes beyond our comprehension.
How much are we able to give, solely to give, and not give, with expectations to receive?
Sigh.
Isn't it like a losing game?
If someone has so much love in him, would others understand? Would they take him for granted?
"What's there to gain when one loves?" is the question that will resound in our heads for sure.
First of all, ask yourself what your purpose for loving someone is.
If it is to be loved in return, then sorry my friend, you may not always get love back.
If it is to bring someone closer to God through faith, you would not have the thought of expecting love back to you because you literally make yourself an instrument of God's love. That means, you draw love from God, who is love Himself, and not from your own love, to give to others.
Having someone to love you back is a blessing from God.
----------------------------------------------------
There is no way someone can fully understand another for the very fact that we are all made unique and we are not that person. I believe that even clones may not understand each other fully.
But what we CAN do is to love someone. And when I mean love, it is free, full, faithful, and fruitful.
Can love be measured?
"I give you one love point today", "I love you many many much", "I love you forever and ever and ever and ever."
At the end of the day, if love does not last forever, it is simply, not love.
If we love someone for a while, then stopped loving, it would mean that we have only tried to love.
-------------------------------------------------
We are made from love and we are made to love.
We are capable of loving...
...sometimes, even in speechlessness.
"Love conquers all."
when it is time.
