Ah, heck. I'm posting it anyway cos I believe it will inspire now or it'll expire soon. -.-
-----------------------------------------------------
I spent Monday thinking about how I could get back to form. We had an hour of training shooting 20 tens only. I almost got it done- 19 tens in 33 shots. I think I was almost getting back to where I was before.
Ah. I missed morning mass as well.. Went to the Adoration Room and met my mum and bro there. Thank goodness there are such places that you can literally bring yourself away from the world and all its noise and just spend quiet quality time with your God. :)
-----------------------------------------------------
Food-note:
The Tau Suan at Kopitiam was expensive man... ($1.80!!!), the Chicken cutlet opposite SAFRA was monster-like and the Jerk BBQ at BBQ Chicken at Northpoint was quite nice though their portion was small.
Anyway, here it is:
Nationals 2009: 96+94+94+97+92+94= 567.
Last year's deal was 96+93+97+97+95+95= 573.
Personal best so far is 94+93+97+96+98+96= 574 during SSA Monthly Shoot of June 2008.
Well, first of all I'm really thankful to God that I could get back to form just yesterday. Sunday's SSA Monthly Shoot was a far cry from what I should be doing when it's just 2 freaking days to the Nationals. Sigh.. Could I have gotten back my form any time earlier? I don't know. I won't blame anything for that.
Well we got 6th. It was so close yet so far. Our total was 1701 which was 5 points away from 5th, 9 points away from 4th (getting a medal), 13 points away from 3rd (bronze!!). Imagine all of us just had to shoot one more point each for each series, that would make 6x3= 18!!! We'd be third!Arrrgh . It was really wasted. Although there was about 20 points improvement as a team from last year's Nationals, it wasn't exactly enough. Coach was right. He said that we needed at least 1710. It was the number that could get us something.
Sigh.
Nevertheless, I think that no matter whether we win or we don't, as long as we have our purpose right, and our gaze fixed at the One, everything that we do will just be praises to His name. Moreover, regardless of how competitive shooting can become on the individual basis, we still stuck together as a team, and I believe all of us got more bonded together instead. Things like "suit yourself", "draw gun ah, why never ask me join art lesson?", "sux to be you", the killing of the toilet plant with lead water, OJH2, Subway, don't press the ventilator button, storm-trooper suit, milk tea, Taquitos, button buddy makes new friends, etc, shall be the hallmarks of the ARM of 2009- Zaihao, Richmond, Mark and me. :)
For now, I guess it would be the teaching of the J1s and passing of our experiences to them. There is so MUCH potential in them... But no matter how good they eventually turn out to be, how far they will go in their shooting 'career', I hope that they would always remember: Humility.
Lastly, in all things anyone does...
To God be the glory. :)
----------------------------------------------------------
Thank you so much everyone who prayed/wished me and my team for our Nationals!! It's really heartening to know that there are you guys behind us. :)
To:
APM (Wednesday)- Chun Yong, Hutt Shun, Chris Chia, Nic Tham
APW (Thursday)- Christine, Eunice, Junyi, Joleen
ARW (Thursday)- Debbie, Cherie, Jolene, Clasandra
ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR SHOOT! :D
Think more about your routine than about getting the score that you want. :)
----------------------------------------------------
With Nationals 2009 over, will this be the end of Christopher Lye's shooting 'career'??? :O
Hahaha, we'll see...
NUSIS 2009?
Just maybe. :)

“Alright, I’m sure yall might be wondering right now why I’m talking to yall right now and not after training. I only do so if I see this as a really important thing so I’m doing it now. What I’d be saying will be more relevant to the J2s, but J1s, yall just sit in for this. Don’t worry yall will still have time for your monthly shoot.
First and foremost, to let all of you know, the competition that we have all been waiting for, has begun- Nationals. For us, the A-division shooters, our competition dates all fall 3 consecutive days next week- Tuesday for Air Rifle Men, Wednesday for Air Pistol Men, and Thursday, for Air Pistol Women and Air Rifle Women.
Personally, this whole competition reminds me of O’levels. Why? Two years ago for the J2s and one year ago for the J1s. You guys may recall. I don’t know if yall did some countdown which my school Zhonghua did so too. At first it was like so far away man, like around 200+ days to O’levels. Wooh who cares?! There’s still a lot of time for us man. Or rather, it felt as if we had a lot of time to spare for other things. Time flies, time really flies…
Anyway Christine will be distributing the coloured paper to the J2s now. Yall can choose your favourite colours from there although there isn’t that much variety I think. With the papers, write your names on them anywhere. Next, pass your paper to the person on the right, and make sure you have a different piece of paper with you now. Okay, right now, we’ll write words of affirmation to your friends. Due to the lack of time, try not to make it into a GP essay k? Yall can write more later, just write a bit first. You can write anywhere and leave your name. After doing so, pass the piece of paper that you’re holding on to the person to your right. Even if you’re not so close to everyone, do write something nice. AND please don’t mention thinks like “I think your breath stinks.” And “how did you do for CTs?” Guys just take it seriously.
Lately, I’ve been using this special cup of mine. I like black. I think black is cool. Shiny… :D I guess yall might find me weird and all but hey, look at this cup, it’s not ordinary okay… Well, at least it has a 600 there la. So whenever I take a drink or eat ice-cream or anything, I’ll use this cup. And wow, what does it remind me of? SHOOTING! :D cool right? It always reminds me of what I aim for. 600 for breakfast, 600 when I’m sleeping, 600 first thing in the morning, 600 everywhere.
Maybe yall can try it too, like write the ideal score that yall would want to attain on your cup or something. :D
But what the ****!!! What should this matter to me? Will it TRULY help me improve and give me the confidence that I need? Will it really give YOU the confidence that you need too? What are scores? What are they? Can ANYONE here tell me what they are? YEAH! They are A BUNCH OF ****-ing numbers!!! Sorry guys, pardon my language, I’ll pay to the swearbox later.
WHAT point am I trying to make right now? Look, what you have in your hands is something so much more important than the mere digits that were written on that ****-ing cup. What YOU have in YOUR HANDS right now is not just a piece of stupid coloured paper. What YOU have now are a bunch of affirmations! Why are they important? Let me just ask all of you here. WHAT is it that YOU think of when you shoot? Be it the score, your friends, or just the card, there will be AT LEAST once when negative thoughts start to come to your mind. Even the strongest willed person will encounter an occasion that he feels that it’s too much to bear etc. What will happen then?
All it takes is just one point to be second. All it takes is for you to lose confidence. That’s when your opponents consume you like a pack of ravaging wolves. Maybe you can resist the negativity that goes on in your mind. But are you always so strong ALONE? WE ARE A CLUB! Hey, look, pieces of paper they may seem to you. But take a look at them again. When was the last time you ever affirmed someone from the club other than those from your clique? WHEN WAS THAT? Oh, I forgot, it never happened. But here, you have the whole list of affirmations from your friends. When you return home today, laminate this up, frame it up or whatever, for it is what you will look at, and where you should turn to for confidence. They will be the positive thoughts that will linger and resound in the silent atmosphere of YOU and the target card. And YOU, will have a renewed confidence. Right now, regardless of what score you are shooting, do what you do best. But at the same time, NEVER EVER limit yourself to the boundless potential that us humans are capable of. That will to score for Nationals is but the very same will that allows us to stay alive on the verge of death. When was it that CJ shooting club bows down to other schools in the FACE of competition? NEVER.
Guys… Nationals have begun...
…which means that it’s time for us to win. :D"
------------------------------------------------------
Sorry about swearing again. I don't swear unnecessarily.
------------------------------------------------------
What will it all mean eventually?
God, please be with all of us...
when there is darkness.

Do you recall the times when you attended all those CME/ME (Civics and Moral Education) lessons in primary and secondary school? What have you learnt from all those seemingly boring lessons? How did you apply those lessons to your life?
I really miss those lessons because they teach me something that I can take and use for the rest of my life. Other subjects do interest me as well, but how long will they last in my life? Will I still be counting one plus one at the age of 100? Hmmm... Okay, maybe I will. But does it help you make the RIGHT decisions in your life?
What is the RIGHT decision anyway? In an economist's view, perhaps it would be the most economical way of doing things. Does convenience and cost effectiveness prove something to be right and moral?
How have we grown through all the life-long lessons that we have gained? Apart from the structured programmes that schools offer, life itself is where we have gained our experiences.
"There is no failure, only learning experience."
Sounds familiar?
That was what Thomas Alva Edison had said before.
True, we must always rise from our setbacks and learn from them. However, I think that the greatest failure of one is to grow in the wrong direction from his/her learning experience. He/she may have learnt his/her lesson, but to what kind of direction will he be heading to after that?
Let me illustrate my point with a simple example.
--------------------------------------------------------
Jolly had always been a generous person all her life. She was in her mid-thirties and she had many friends. She was blessed by God with wealth. She thought "Because I am given, I shall give." Her friends loved her compassion and her warmth when she reached out to them and helped them in their financial difficulties.
Then came one day when a robber broke into Jolly's house. To Jolly's horror when she came back home, almost all her valuables were robbed away. What was left were the things that the robber could not carry. "My goodness! Who could have done this??!"
Although Jolly had enough money to buy back her robbed belongings at least 5 times, she was still upset as much of her hard-earned savings had been gone just like that.
Upon investigation by the police, Jolly discovered that the robber was actually her close friend, Shandy.
She was devastated.
--------------------------------------------------------
How will Jolly learn from this experience? Will she learn that close friends cannot be trusted? Will she never trust anyone after that? Will this be how Jolly grows?
What direction will Jolly face when she learns from this experience?
Surely, Jolly's trust for Shandy will fall. That would be first and foremost whether her trust falls how much will be another matter.
If Jolly bases her learning experience on her feelings, she would learn to keep away from Shandy. Shandy would be seen as a cunning wolf (not even a friend/human). Jolly would harbour anger, hatred, and revenge. She would be reeking of all the negative emotions that one can think of. She will not care a single bit about the past experiences that they have shared as friends and all she sees Shandy is just another slut now. She wants to get even with her. She wants Shandy to feel as much pain as she had felt. For Jolly to reason with Shandy was impossible. Jolly had hardened her heart to Shandy. Jolly then began to suspect her best friend, Mari.
If Jolly is God-directed and has faith, she would learn that she has to be aware of Shandy. She will feel sad, angry, and betrayed, but she will offer these feelings to God and let them pass. What would matter more to her is her journey to forgive Shandy for her wrong doing. Jolly would care enough and talk things out with Shandy, to understand the reason for her actions. She would still be a friend to Shandy, because she still loves her as a friend despite what Shandy had done to her. In time to come, Jolly would be able to forgive Shandy.
But Jolly would not allow Shandy over at her place for the time being until she is sure that Shandy is no longer the robber that she was.
Being forgiving does not mean that one has to give in to oppression and be victimised in the process. It means to forgive and be there for that person, while keeping an arm's length away. That, is wisdom as well.
So you see, in both scenarios, Jolly DID learn something from her experience. But what was it that she had learnt, and how was it that she had grown from the situation? There are also many other cases, some of which do not just deal with two standard scenarios for people to choose from.
----------------------------------------------------
I am thankful that there are such moral lessons in JC too. :)
Today's topic during the religious lesson was "Modern Advancement". It mainly touched on topics like euthanasia and stem cell research.
I do not have time as yet to elaborate on all the thoughts that I have on these issues, but what I had gained from the enriching lesson was what Mrs Tan said.
She said that "Because God is life-giving, we should make life-giving decisions too."
I understood.
Euthanasia, abortion, and stem cell research may not seem right at all, but if you take a deeper look at the various cases that may arise, we should take a more objective stance and bring in our faith. We should ask ourselves "Will this decision that I make be life-giving?"
This is roughly what I had thought about while doing the worksheet:
Life is a gift from God and we are the stewards of it. It has been given freely to us, so we should live it out fully. Suffering and death may not be a bad thing spiritually, it is just that we are afraid to face them. Whether or not we are able to heal or relieve one from suffering or death is not as important as the healing within. That is, our souls, and our faith.

What was that actually? What was it? What happened?
Ugh.. It ends up in the spiral of questions once again.
Maybe it's just time to let go of everything else that I've ever dreamt of...
-------------------------------------------------
Did you give any signs? Or were there any in the first place? Haven't I given mine? Or perhaps it was all a joke to you? Was it?
Tell me.
------------------------------------------------
Please give me the wisdom to see what it all means, my God.
I offer it all to You.
I'll hold on to them.

The sky was so orange.
The covenant that arches across the sky, over everyone, everywhere.
The rainbow.
Moments like these pass so fast, so quickly for us to look at them once more.---------------------------------------------------------
10 days more.
Nationals.
If you are, I'll hold on to you.

First ever official Shooting Outing in 09! :D
Hmm not all could make it this time though.. :( It would be really great to have the whole club there but it was kinda late to ask even more cos it was planned after the CTs.
I had a couple of laughs on 966 on our way there (I was looking at the funny cards that Emo, Kimbo, Joleen, CY monster, Java the hutt, rich, and jiong le gave to me) Hahaha! "Can't-you" Thank you guys. :)
We settled for lunch at Parkway's KFC where it started raining cats and dogs. Thankfully, we had around 2 more hours to spare before heading to East Coast itself. So we went to the arcade upstairs.
Sigh, they didn't have Daytona USA there.
And I realised for the 'hammer game', that more force= less points. -.- Yu Heng's basketball was ownage man. The sky was clear once again so we made our move to ECP, having a good laugh at Kim's joke. Hahaha! xD
Uncle Scorpion's bikes.
I shared bike with Kim cos she said she wanted to slack or something. Lol
Say "Hi!"
The sun made our complexion not bad. Lol that's what we commented. Haha I hope I don't get killed on Monday though. :S
EuJean Yip.
Christine, me, Kim, Jon.
A nice sunny day, after the pouring rain. :)
The perfect weather.
Frisbee.
After that we played some no-rules-volleyball and captain's ball.
Emo.
The bikes took a rest.
Fisherman Jiongle went out to sea.
And made it back with the frisbee! Ninja warrior!
Clustered and taken down. -.-
CHUN YONG?!! Shit man, my ribs almost couldn't take it. I was lying sideways.
Yeah, like that.
Thank God no broken bones/ribs.
Sorry I swore. Ugh, but don't do that again. Nice 'brotherly wrap' er but a bit too much ah. There's only so much a human can take. If I were Superman, yeah, I don't mind the world on me. When I'm in a good mood, I'm not a kill-joy la, but don't have too many people leh. I don't mind 6 or 7 Jiong Le. Haha
In our return journey, while the rest of us were returning our bikes, Emo became Superwoman! Hahaha, she tried to avoid knocking into a small boy, so she lost control and fell out. The boy commented something like "Mummy, superman!" Rofl.
Dinner was at Banquet in PP. 7 laksa bowls were ordered! :D The roti prata was delicious, except that the curry was chilli or some sardine juice.
We went to take Neoprint at the Arcade. The security guard was irritating. Urgh. It's MARCH HOLIDAYS by the way, why bother so much about what we wear? We're not like skipping school or anything. If you don't want us to be inside there with that kind of attire, we CHANGE, happy? Uniforms are meant for formal occasions, yupp true, and they should not be worn in a place like this. Fair enough. We were not in school UNIFORM anyway.
We were laughing at the classic neoprint picture (cos no one knew where to look at) outside, which drew the security guard's attention. He came out and stared at us.
Man, if there aren't any rules/respect, he would get it man. Haha :p (not my scores btw)
And finally, shooting outing was a PAIN! Haha, nahh just kidding, this was supposed to be an unglam shot of me when I was doing some head rotation. -.-
Shooting outing was fun. :D

Fishermen and fish,
A person without a leash.
Seconds to days,
What are these words anyways?
Reason and rhyme,
Such a lack of time.
To whom this doesn't appall,
They have understood it all.
I'm not crazy,
This is just my idiosyncrasy.

Along the park, along the pavements...
-pause-
It was 6.42pm. The sun was on its way down. I was at the flyover.
Blading down the noisy cemented drains, it seemed as if darkness was going to loom over the setting sun.
The sun's rays beamed through the gaps of the residential buildings...
...making it a really Holy sight.
Blading on the lonely pavements at the parallels of the empty road, roving for eye-catching sights.
The man-made machine drifted pass above me on the tracks that guide it to the next station.
Left it was, the sun and its golden rays. That was where I maneuvered myself to.
Trees that stand straight and tall seemed to be giving their last salute to their giver of energy.
Light was reflected on the tracks- I followed it.
The scaffolds of new estates was overshadowed by the sun that stood behind them.
Yellow and bright...
Cranes, like giraffes, looked intently towards the direction of the sun.
Stride by stride, I continued following the tracks.
Waiting for the GO signal by the green man...
I came to a halt after the left bend.
Golden.
I climbed up the elevated grass patch while the sun hung low at the sky.
I trekked towards it.
I was directly underneath the tracks that glimmered in a tinge of yellow, orange, and gold.
At that instant, I just knew that a 2 megapixel camera phone could not capture how beautiful the sunset was. The panoramic capture of the sunset on my Sony Ericsson was incomparable to the indescribable moment.
I said a prayer and thanked God for that moment.
Along the drains I walked toward Punggol Station, with my gaze still on the sun's face.
One last glance, on the glass doors of the MRT station.
As I wheeled back home, and thought that everything was over, I looked back at the sky... and there I saw, a shooting star.
My God is AMAZING.
I made a wish.
I tried to capture it down but unfortunately, it was too small to be seen.
Immediately after trying to do so, a flock of birds flew past above me.
I drew a deep breath and closed my eyes. I could feel God's omnipresence at that very instant.
Call it magical, call it a wonder, call it His lovely pieces of art.
These are just mere passing images, but we are worth more than that to have been loved and saved by the Lord.
------------------------------------------------------
We shall capture every sunset together.
If only I knew who you were...
