In a game of chess, on a scale of 10, with 10 being the most important, pawns are worth only 1. But the pawn has the potential to become any other piece (except the king). All it has to do is to just move six steps forward. Just, six steps..
Even though pawns may be sacrificed along the way, depending on how the players play them, they still possess the power that any other piece does...
