First Standing Concert

Photo taken by Junyi! ^^

My first standing concert experience was SOMETHING! :D it was one of my favourite bands called All Time Low, and what's better, I went to the concert with 2 great friends of mine!! I shall tell you guys what happened through these lessons learnt. :)

Lessons learnt:

[Before the concert]

1. Practise their songs before the concert!

So that you can SING ALONG!! Listening to the songs on Youtube and singing to the lyrics should all come naturally if you're enthusiastic enough about the concert!! Don't have to teach you this by the way!

2. Wear sneakers?

Make sure you wear the right pair of shoes!! Cos you gotta be prepared to jump! :D the colour of your shoes matter if you do mind them getting accidentally stepped on by other people.. No one is really able to jump on the same spot anyway. I wouldn't suggest you wear slippers. Sneakers would do best. If you're a girl who isn't that tall, you can try heels if you're that extreme like my friend. :P

3. Bring ponchos/umbrellas

It rained. A LOT. I wouldn't say it was that much of a bad thing that it rained, cos almost everyone who attended the concert got wet in one way or another. Either you get soaked by water from above, or you produce your own salty water. Haha.

They don't give free ponchos.

4. Tell your parents you won't be home early and bring your own set of keys!

I think concerts would end quite late as they start later than the time stated in the ticket. We left the concert at around 11.30pm.. Be a responsible kid and let your parents know. :)

5. Be early for the concert, meet up for dinner

We met around 3 hours before the concert started and had Soup Spoon! :) it was enough to last us throughout the concert at least, although we got a bit hungry later on. Not advisable to go for some buffet before the concert!

6. Don't drink too much of any fluid before the concert

You won't wanna pee in the middle of the concert cos you'll REALLY miss out a chunk of it!! Keep hydrated but don't over-do it!

7. Do not bring bottled drinks in (except your own water bottle)

Rich and I bought milk-tea at 7-Eleven which cost us $1.40 and both bottles got confiscated during the bag check. I didn't drink much of it so it was quite a waste. :/

8. Bring a good camera!!

You know,

I know,

EVERYBODY KNOW~

1. Go to the concert with AWESOME FRIENDS! (and look out for each other)

You don't get to sit down on a standing concert.. DUH! And for the not-so-tall people out there, look out for your friends cos it can get quite crowded or you might find yourself standing among some totally new friends. Take care of your girl-friends (if any) who are attending the concert with you. Don't let them get shoved and bullied by other people!! "Bullying" is only exclusive to friends. xD

2. Stand in front, but nearer to the sides. AVOID THE CENTRE.

Oh YES, this is where you should stand to have the best view and get pushed the least. There was a mini-mosh when The Dirt Radicals came out to play their songs and we were pushed all the way front left around 7m in 5 seconds!! The pushing stopped all of a sudden when The Dirt Radicals intervened with the scene cos some people in front fell down, got trampled on or something... The crowd was better when All Time Low came up on stage to perform.

You will feel really hot when you stand in the centre as everyone's radiating their body heat. Standing at the side might also give you a closer view of the band.

3. Do not hit on girls during a concert -.-

Dudes, you're not the ones that they wanna meet-and-greet... Although there were quite a lot of pretty girls there. :P

4. Sing the right song for the right occasion

There were a bunch of people who started singing the Singapore National Anthem while waiting for the bands to come up to stage... Most people don't sing it during flag raising...only during ATL's concert they do???? Funny arh..

5. Have a lot of patience

Yeap, they will make you wait a long while before you get to see the bands on stage. We arrived at the scene at around 7.20pm (concert starts at 8pm) and had to wait till 10+pm for the main event (All Time Low) to commence.

[After the concert]

1. Bring enough money for supper

Yeah you might also find your stomach singing after the concert.

2. Catch the last train/bus

Don't spend unnecessary money on a cab if you don't have to right? Make a run for the last public transport! :)

3. Bathe before you sleep

Cos....

YOU'D STINK BY THEN!

We REALLY enjoyed ourselves. :D

ALL TIME LOW FTW!
