It's Okay

http://thisiscoreythompson.com/daily-doodle/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Its-Okay-To-Be-Awesome.gif

That's what Barney Stinson would say. Haha!

Nah, I'm not going to talk about How I Met Your Mother.. But something else. :)

"It's okay" has quite a lot of usages in conversations.

For instance, in Singapore or any other country with the majority as Chinese, people usually use "It's okay" to cover up their shyness. Like in Chinese New Year when people go visiting and are invited to have have a bite at the goodies, most would say "It's okay" mainly because they are what we call "paiseh" (in Hokkien). But it is also a form of politeness too. Although it does contradict a little here when you see people eating "Kway Bang Kit" after saying "It's okay"... Haha. Maybe it's just in the tradition of not being too open to accepting people's offer from the start. This tends to differ in European countries where they are more open and more frank with each other as they mean what they say. Hmmm.. It's hard to understand a more contradicting lot of people uh?

In other occasions when people are asked "How's your day?", the USUAL response would be "It's okay". When DEFINITELY, there's MORE to it! How can a day be just "okay"?? Though if you take it to a mathematical level, perhaps it can because the highs and the lows of the day nullify each other, resulting in the mathematical zero; "It's okay". What a pissing statement! Though there might need to be time and space for someone to elaborate more on stuff so the usual, "It's okay" could very well have been a cover-up as well. Wow. Humans are really difficult to understand with just an "It's okay".

When one's feeling down, and one's friends try to comfort him/her by asking if they're alright, but AGAIN, the reply "It's okay", when in actual fact, they are not okay at all. The friends might say "It's okay, things will get better" when it gets hard to console him/her or when they know the situation's out of their control.

There's so much more to things when people say "It's okay" :/

Yet, as much as people might seem not to understand in times when we are down-trodden, an "It's okay" might very well be all we need to hear.

That is because it is not just an "It's okay", a failed attempt to comfort someone, but it is an

"It's okay (I am here)" that makes that difference.
